The Onyx K9 Loose Lead Course is now a streamlined 4-week program designed to teach your dog how to walk calmly and politely on a leash, without pulling or tugging. Over the course of four weeks, you’ll learn how to effectively communicate with your dog, creating a relaxed and enjoyable walking experience for both of you.

Course Overview:

Week 1: Introduction to Loose Lead Walking
We kick off by introducing the basics of loose lead walking. You’ll learn how to hold the leash properly and begin teaching your dog the feel of walking without pulling. This week is all about setting up the foundation for loose lead walking and beginning to build focus.

Week 2: Building Focus and Consistency
Now that your dog understands the basics, we focus on developing stronger attention and focus. We’ll work on keeping your dog’s attention on you, even in the presence of distractions. Positive reinforcement will be used to reward calm walking and staying by your side.

Week 3: Turning, Direction Changes, and Handling Distractions
In this week, we add more complexity by introducing turns and direction changes while maintaining a loose lead. We also begin to practice walking in environments with distractions, such as other dogs or people, to help your dog stay focused and polite.

Week 4: Fine-Tuning and Real-World Application
In the final week, we reinforce all the skills learned in the previous weeks and practice walking in various real-world environments, ensuring your dog can walk nicely on a loose lead under different conditions. This week will help solidify the behaviors for long-term success, making your walks more enjoyable and controlled.
