Onyx K9 E-collar Conditioning

The Onyx K9 E-collar Conditioning Course is a comprehensive training program designed to introduce and condition your dog to the use of an e-collar in a safe, controlled, and positive way. This course focuses on building a strong foundation of communication between you and your dog, helping to reinforce obedience and improve responsiveness, all while ensuring the e-collar is used ethically and effectively.

Course Overview:

Introduction to the E-collar
We start on introducing the e-collar and ensuring both you and your dog are comfortable with its presence. We’ll guide you through proper collar placement, settings, and how to deliver clear and consistent communication. This segment is all about creating a positive association with the collar and starting with basic, low-level stimulations to get your dog accustomed to the sensation.

Conditioning to the E-collar
Now that your dog is familiar with the e-collar, we begin conditioning your dog to respond to the stimulation. We'll work on simple commands like "sit," "down," and "place". Positive reinforcement is used to ensure your dog associates the stimulation with the desired behaviour, not fear or discomfort.

Increasing Distractions and Real-Life Application
In this segment, we start adding distractions to the training environment to test your dog’s responsiveness in more challenging situations. We’ll practice in various settings, ensuring your dog can focus and respond to commands with the e-collar even when distractions are present. The goal is to make sure your dog generalises the behaviours learned to real-life scenarios.

Fine-Tuning and Proofing
The final segment is all about fine-tuning the skills your dog has learned and proving the behaviours under more difficult conditions. We’ll work on enhancing your dog’s reliability and consistency with commands, increasing the duration and distance, and ensuring your dog can perform in various environments and situations.

By the end of the Onyx K9 E-collar Conditioning Course, your dog will be conditioned to respond reliably to your commands with the e-collar, enabling better control and off-leash freedom, all while maintaining a strong, positive relationship built on trust and clear communication.

PLEASE NOTE:

Altough we aim to have your dog fully conditioned to the equipment by the end of the course legth, every dog responds differently and may need more/less time to understand fully. This course repplies on owner cooperation and practice between sessions.

• 4 x in person 121 sessions  

If your dog hasn't been trained by Onyx K9 Training, a 121 assessment is needed to assess suitability. Not all dogs are suited for E Collar training, additional sessions may be necessary before and after. Extra sessions post-package completion will be charged at the regular 121 rate.
